Red Tape
Tis the season for red ribbons tied into perfect red bows, red chritsmas tree lights of all sorts and fat men with beards dressed in red velvet suits. As a nursing student quickly being catapulted towards my NCLEX-PN exam in early January, I am learning that this is also the season of red-tape as it relates to my NCLEX-PN exam.
In MI, a student must register with two seperate entities, the testing center and the St Board of Nursing in order to be eligible to write the NCLEX. This requires an initial cash outlay of $248 dollars between the two. Then, because I finish my LPN coursework in December (the 15th to be exact) if I write my exam before 1/31/07, I have to renew my license by March of 2007 which requires another $48. Whew...thats a lot of work. I haven't even mentioned all the hoops related to paperwork.
In the midst of all this, as my educational institution has kindly informed me, a successful NCLEX candidate (on average) reads approxiamately 4000 NCLEX style test questions. Hmmm...I guess I'd better quit blogging and start studying.
I've posted a link to the MI State Board of Nursing, The MI Student Nurses Assosiation Website, and I will try and post my favorites of the NCLEX questions I am studying...test your knowledge.
